  • Celebrate at NAU-Yuma Spring Commencement

    Commencement is a memorable experience. Celebrate in style at Northern Arizona University’s Yuma Branch Campus. 

    NAU-Yuma commencement ceremonies are held once a year in May. If you finish your coursework in the Fall, you can attend December commencement on the Flagstaff campus or wait until May to celebrate in Yuma. Waiting until May to celebrate in Yuma will not delay your diploma. 

    The Spring 2017 NAU-Yuma commencement is scheduled for Friday, May 19, at 8pm at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.

    Rehearsal is typically held at the Veterans Memorial Stadium at 8 a.m. the morning of commencement.

    Join us at NAU-Yuma's 2017 GRAD FEST!

    In preparation for Spring Commencement here in Yuma, Northern Arizona University's Bookstore is coming to YOU! In an effort to help simplify your graduation needs, caps/gowns, diploma frames, alumni gear and other NAU merchandise will be available for purchase. This ONE DAY ONLY event is being held on Thursday, March 9, Noon-6pm in the Academic Complex Building. Click here for the GRAD FEST flyer with more information!

     

    Submit Your Application On Time 

    Undergraduate Students: All students who complete their bachelor’s degree requirements by Spring must file a graduation application and pay a $35 application fee per degree.

    Deadline to submit your Spring graduation application: December 1.

    Graduate Students: Students completing their master’s degree by Spring must file the appropriate master’s degree graduation application or graduate certificate graduation application

    Deadline to submit your Spring graduation application: December 1.

    Processing your graduation application takes time. First, complete the application, and be sure meet with your academic advisor at least six weeks prior to the deadline

    Your application must be received by the deadline for your name to be published in the NAU commencement program.

      

    Honors Convocation 

    Graduating with a 3.5 GPA or higher for undergraduates and a 3.9 GPA or higher for graduates earns you the distinction of being recognized during the NAU-Yuma Honors Convocation. 

     

    The Spring 2017 Honors Convocation is Friday, April 28, 2017, 6-8 p.m. in the 3C Schoening Conference Room.

    Graduating students who qualify for this recognition shall receive a formal Honors Convocation invitation and RSVP card by mail.

    You may also RSVP by calling 928-317-6440 by no later than Friday, April 21, 2017.

      

    Celebrate With Family & Friends

    No commencement tickets are required and seating is unlimited. Please arrive at least one hour early to make time for traffic and parking. 

    Accommodations can be made for guest with disabilities. Please send your request to Lisa Newton at 928-317-6063 or Lisa.Newton@nau.edu at least two weeks prior to commencement.

    Commencement Regalia & Announcements

    Purchase regalia and graduation announcements through the NAU Bookstore.  

    Honor cords are available for purchase for undergraduates qualifying for Latin Honors or graduate students with a GPA of 3.9 or above. 

    Deadline to purchase for the Spring 2017 commencement is TBA. 

     

    NAU-Yuma Commencement FAQ’s

    Am I eligible to walk in the Yuma commencement ceremony?

    All NAU students are eligible to participate in the NAU-Yuma spring commencement with a pending or final approved graduation application. 

    Can I walk in both the commencement ceremony in Yuma and in Flagstaff?

    Yes. Have friends and family in both parts of the state? Then celebrate twice! Please check Flagstaff’s commencement schedule to determine if you are able to travel to and attend both.

    What is Latin Honors?

    Latin Honors recognize outstanding academic achievement by graduating students. The three designations are: Summa Cum Laude (translation: "With Highest Praise"), Magna Cum Laude (translation: "With Great Praise") and Cum Laude (translation: "With Praise").

    To qualify for Latin Honors, you must be an undergraduate student, completed 30 or more hours at NAU, and have an exemplary GPA with no more than 6 units of failing grades. The specific GPA requirement for Latin Honors is dependent upon your college/department.
