NAU Alum Wins National Distinguished Principal Award

Chris Barnes, Corte Sierra Elementary School Principal and NAU alumnus, received the National Distinguished Principal Award in 2015. The honor is awarded by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and seeks to recognize administrators for outstanding achievements and dedication to their schools.

Mr. Barnes has served as a principal for 19 years and has earned three A+ School of Excellence Awards from the Arizona Educational Foundation. His outstanding commitment to his students and community has not gone unnoticed. As part of the NAESP award, Mr. Barnes travelled to Washington D.C. for a two-day celebration with the other honorees.
