It may only be weeks into your spring semester, but many universities are already offering students the chance to sign up for summer classes. Here at NAU, summer class enrollment is now open

Taking summer classes means earning as many as 16 credits between the spring and fall semesters. Summer classes are offered at a local campus near you and many more conveniently offered online.

Not convinced? Here are five reasons why taking a summer term class could be the right decision for you.

Reason 1: You Can Snag That Hard-To-Get Class

Getting a spot in a popular class can be a struggle during the fall and spring semesters, especially if it’s a degree pre-requisite or has limited amount of seats open.

That’s the advantage of taking summer classes. Summer term classes can often guarantee enrollment for that hard-to-get class, allowing you to stay on track to earning your degree.

Reason #2: You’re Closer To Graduating On Time—Or Early

Do you want one class to be the reason why you graduate a semester or even a year later?

Stick to your time schedule. By taking summer classes, you are more likely to earn your degree sooner and graduate

Reason #3: You’ll Be More Than Ready For The Fall Semester

Summer can be when you spend the time keeping your skills sharp for your career and the upcoming fall semester—or not.

Summer classes allow you to solidify what you learned in the spring semester so that you’re more than ready for your fall courses.

Reason #4: There’s A Class You Need To Retake

Taking a summer class is a great way to keep from falling behind, especially if a certain class requires more of your attention.

If you didn’t meet the grade standard for a pre-requisite or if you genuinely want to improve your class grade, consider retaking that class now during the summer term.

Reason #5: You Can Reduce Your Course Load Next Semester

Already anxious about how many classes you need to take next fall? Lighten your load by taking summer classes.

Taking summer classes now can mean having more time during the fall semester to focus on your career and family without falling behind in earning your degree.

Not ready? You can always wait to take that important class during the fall semester
